<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A Davicom Cortex Workspace can contain multiple tabs or panels, each displaying content based on user needs and requirements. Each panel has a set of properties to choose from, and each panel can be configured with its own set of properties, as needed.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">To access these properties, begin by enabling the Workspace Edit mode by clicking on the small arrow on the top left side of the screen.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img decoding="async" width="105" height="147" src="https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Cortex-Panel-Tab-properties-1.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-4889" srcset="https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Cortex-Panel-Tab-properties-1.jpg 105w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Cortex-Panel-Tab-properties-1-36x50.jpg 36w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Cortex-Panel-Tab-properties-1-54x75.jpg 54w" sizes="(max-width:767px) 105px, 105px" /></figure></div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Next, do a mouse right-click anywhere in an empty area of the Workspace, then click on <em>Edit</em> from the contextual menu.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img decoding="async" width="104" height="102" src="https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Cortex-Panel-Tab-properties-2.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-4890" srcset="https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Cortex-Panel-Tab-properties-2.jpg 104w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Cortex-Panel-Tab-properties-2-50x50.jpg 50w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Cortex-Panel-Tab-properties-2-76x75.jpg 76w" sizes="(max-width:767px) 104px, 104px" /></figure></div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The following <em>Panel Properties </em>menu appears.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Davicom&#8217;s Cortex products
have built-in graphic design capabilities that allow easy customization and creation
of Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) to cover all your needs. In the Davicom Cortex
world, these GUI’s are called Workspaces, and below is a list of some of their
key features.</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Activation &amp; deactivation
(appearance/disappearance) of objects (images, text, shapes, lines) based on I/O
status</li><li>Change of object color based on
I/O status</li><li>Drag, drop, resize, copy, and paste
of objects</li><li>Grouped drag, drop, copy, paste
of objects</li><li>Grouped edition of objects’ properties
(size, color, etc.)</li><li>Rotation of objects in1°
increment</li><li>Send-to-front and Send-to back of
object in display layers</li><li>Association of objects to any
I/O</li><li>Vectorization of objects for lossless
resizing</li><li>Hyperlink to a specific Workspace
tab from an object</li><li>Use of transparent (<em>cut-out</em>) .png images</li><li>Use of a background image</li><li>Use of common image formats
(jpg, gif, png, bmp, svg, etc.)</li><li>Possibility of merging
Workspaces when uploading a Workspace into a unit.</li></ul>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">To edit or create
Workspaces, you must be logged-in to the Davicom Cortex, but it is not required to be
in control of the unit. To begin, click on the small arrow located at the top of
the left side of the screen: this activates the <strong>Edit Mode</strong>.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="124" height="208" src="https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Cortex-Edit-Menu-1.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-4681" srcset="https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Cortex-Edit-Menu-1.jpg 124w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Cortex-Edit-Menu-1-87x146.jpg 87w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Cortex-Edit-Menu-1-30x50.jpg 30w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Cortex-Edit-Menu-1-45x75.jpg 45w" sizes="auto, (max-width:767px) 124px, 124px" /><figcaption> <strong>The Davicom Cortex Edit Mode activation/deactivation button.</strong> </figcaption></figure></div>

gates are only a visual representation, they must be associated to a particular
I/O for their characteristics to become animated.</p>

that can then be animated.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>8 – ADD TEXT: </strong>Adds text.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Davicom Cortex allows any of its loaded
Workspaces to be assigned to any of its users. Up to 32 Workspaces can be
stored in a unit. This feature is useful when using a custom-made Workspace that
only displays relevant content, either for a user with limited rights, to match
a client’s needs, or simply as personal preferences. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Note that the same Workspace can be
assigned to several different users, thereby ensuring that all users can see
the same information at the same time, if that is a requirement. Also you can
assign different Workspaces to the same person, but with different logins
(users). This can be useful when you log in with your smart phone versus logging-in
with a computer. The view can be adapted to the platform you use when
logging-in.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">From the Davicom Cortex top menu, go to <strong><em>System
&gt; Users</em></strong>. The following <em>Users</em>
menu comes up.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="804" height="314" src="https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Cortex-WS-User-Assignation-1.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-4733" srcset="https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Cortex-WS-User-Assignation-1.jpg 804w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Cortex-WS-User-Assignation-1-300x117.jpg 300w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Cortex-WS-User-Assignation-1-768x300.jpg 768w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Cortex-WS-User-Assignation-1-260x102.jpg 260w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Cortex-WS-User-Assignation-1-50x20.jpg 50w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Cortex-WS-User-Assignation-1-150x59.jpg 150w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Cortex-WS-User-Assignation-1-380x148.jpg 380w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Cortex-WS-User-Assignation-1-600x234.jpg 600w" sizes="auto, (max-width:767px) 480px, (max-width:804px) 100vw, 804px" /></figure></div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Select the user to whom you wish to assign
the specific Workspace, then click on the <em>Tool
</em>icon (Configuration). You can also do a mouse right-click anywhere on the
line listing the user. To assign a Workspace to multiple users at the same
time, select all the desired users, then click on the <em>Tool </em>icon, and select the desired Workspace. This also demonstrates
the Davicom Cortex unit’s powerful <em>bulk edition</em>
capability, available throughout the unit’s menus.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="171" height="314" src="https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Cortex-WS-User-Assignation-2.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-4734" srcset="https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Cortex-WS-User-Assignation-2.jpg 171w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Cortex-WS-User-Assignation-2-163x300.jpg 163w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Cortex-WS-User-Assignation-2-80x146.jpg 80w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Cortex-WS-User-Assignation-2-27x50.jpg 27w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Cortex-WS-User-Assignation-2-41x75.jpg 41w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Cortex-WS-User-Assignation-2-142x260.jpg 142w" sizes="auto, (max-width:767px) 171px, 171px" /></figure></div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When using DavLink, the startup Workspace loads directly from the PC, either from a default location or another specified location. These settings can be changed, but any change must be made while DavLink is connected to a unit.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Before setting up a new Workspace in DavLink, make sure that the Workspace you want to set is available from the PC itself (on the local disk or from another storage location or storage device).</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">To change the default DavLink Workspace that loads-up when connecting to a Davicom Cortex , first connect to a unit, then from the DavLink top menu, go to <em>File &gt; Set Default Workspace</em>.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A window opens, from which you can browse to the Workspace location by clicking on the small Folder icon. Once the desired Workspace is found and selected, click on <strong>OK</strong>. The newly loaded Workspace will automatically load at the next login.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="476" height="126" src="https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Changing-DavLink-default-WS-2.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-4885" srcset="https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Changing-DavLink-default-WS-2.jpg 476w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Changing-DavLink-default-WS-2-300x79.jpg 300w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Changing-DavLink-default-WS-2-260x69.jpg 260w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Changing-DavLink-default-WS-2-50x13.jpg 50w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Changing-DavLink-default-WS-2-150x40.jpg 150w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Changing-DavLink-default-WS-2-380x101.jpg 380w" sizes="auto, (max-width:767px) 476px, 476px" /></figure></div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It is possible to edit and create custom Davicom Cortex Workspaces using DavLink 6. <p class="wp-block-paragraph">Opening a Davicom Cortex Workspace that is not
loaded into a unit serves three main purposes: </p>

<ol class="wp-block-list"><li>To examine it, if, for example,
you don’t remember what it looks like or what is its purpose)</li><li>To <strong>edit </strong>it, </li><li>Or to <strong>merge</strong> it with another Workspace.</li></ol>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>To examine
a Workspace</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">To look at a Workspace, connect to a Davicom Cortex unit and enable the Edit mode (for more information about the Edit mode, see the following article: <em><a href="https://dex.davicom.com/kb/graphic-edition-menu-explained-cortex-series/">Graphic edition menu explained</a></em>).</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="105" height="147" src="https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Open-Merge-Cortex-WS-1.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-4703" srcset="https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Open-Merge-Cortex-WS-1.jpg 105w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Open-Merge-Cortex-WS-1-36x50.jpg 36w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Open-Merge-Cortex-WS-1-54x75.jpg 54w" sizes="auto, (max-width:767px) 105px, 105px" /></figure></div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Next, from the floating toolbar, click on <em>Open From PC</em>.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="145" height="121" src="https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Open-Merge-Cortex-WS-2.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-4704" srcset="https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Open-Merge-Cortex-WS-2.jpg 145w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Open-Merge-Cortex-WS-2-50x42.jpg 50w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Open-Merge-Cortex-WS-2-90x75.jpg 90w" sizes="auto, (max-width:767px) 145px, 145px" /></figure></div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A Workspace Merge warning message will come
up. Since you only want to look at the Workspace, click No.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="245" height="148" src="https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Open-Merge-Cortex-WS-3.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-4705" srcset="https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Open-Merge-Cortex-WS-3.jpg 245w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Open-Merge-Cortex-WS-3-242x146.jpg 242w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Open-Merge-Cortex-WS-3-50x30.jpg 50w, https://dex.davicom.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Open-Merge-Cortex-WS-3-124x75.jpg 124w" sizes="auto, (max-width:767px) 245px, 245px" /></figure></div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A browser window opens, and from there you can
browse to the Workspace location (local disk, USB stick, LAN storage device,
etc.). Once the Workspace is selected, it is automatically loaded and appears
on screen. At this point, the newly loaded Workspace is only loaded in your web
browser, so there is no danger to damage it or erase it, and it is the same for
any of the Workspaces that are loaded in the unit.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When you are done with the viewing, disable
the Edit mode, and log out of the unit.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>To edit
a Workspace</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">For information on how to edit a Workspace, please see the following article: <em><a href="https://dex.davicom.com/kb/introduction-to-workspace-creation-edition-and-saving-cortex-series/">Introduction to Workspace edition, creation and saving</a>.</em></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>To merge
a Workspace</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The merging of Davicom Cortex Workspaces requires you
to be connected to a unit. The actual merging takes place in the web browser on
your computer, but the two sources are the computer and the Davicom Cortex unit. It is
only possible to merge an external Workspace (from the computer) with one that
is already loaded in a unit.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">To merge an external Workspace with one
that is already in a unit, walk through the first three steps given at the top
of this article, and when you get the <em>Workspace
Merge</em> warning message, click on <em>Yes.</em></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A browser window opens, and from there you
can browse to the Workspace location (local disk, USB stick, LAN storage
device, etc.). Once the Workspace is selected, it is automatically loaded and
merged with the one currently being displayed. At this point, the newly merged
Workspace is only loaded in your web browser. The merging action consists of
adding all the display tabs (if many are present) from the loaded Workspace
into the Workspace that is already being displayed.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>IMPORTANT:</strong> When merging two workspaces having multiple tabs, no two tabs can
have the same name, otherwise these tabs will not merge. Before doing a merge,
check the two Workspaces separately to check the tab names, and rename any tabs
having redundant names using the Edit mode, and then do the merge. In the
advent of trying to merge Workspaces containing identical names, a warning
message will appear.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">After the merge, if needed, you can edit the new Workspace, and when everything is OK, you must save this Workspace on your computer. Once it is ready to use on the Davicom Cortex, the Workspace must be uploaded to the unit. For information on how to upload a Workspace in a Davicom Cortex, please see the article <em><a href="https://dex.davicom.com/kb/how-to-upload-a-workspace-into-a-cortex/">How to upload a Workspace into a Davicom Cortex</a></em>.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When you are done, disable the Edit mode,
and log out of the unit.</p>

a mouse right-click, and select <em>Edit </em>from
the menu.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The tab renaming action is part of the Workspace editing process, and this process takes place solely in the computer’s web browser, not in the Davicom Cortex itself. Therefore, for the new tab name to be stored and become effective in the Davicom Cortex, the Workspace must first be saved on the PC, and then uploaded (reloaded) into the unit. For more information on how to do this, see the article<a href="https://dex.davicom.com/kb/how-to-upload-a-workspace-into-a-cortex/"> <em>How to upload a Workspace into a Davicom Cortex</em></a>.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you try to disconnect from the unit
without having previously saved the Workspace, a warning message will offer you
the possibility to save it before the disconnection.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Under <em>Workspaces</em>,
